So the uniform just came in but there were a number of problems with the order. I ordered a tanker's colonel's parade uniform with straight leg pants.
The coat showed up with what I believe is an enlisted tanker's patch (see pictures), but if it belongs on an officer's uniform let me know. He also guaranteed that a Guard's Badge would be included (not there). I sent specific measurements for for the coat and pants. While I did not expect the exact measurements, despite his guarantees, I thought the sizes would be close. The jacket it massive, but at least it can be brought in by a tailor. Finally, the rank on the jacket is not Col, but Lt Col rank and the stars are not gold (like they are supposed to be) but rather silver. The pants were the worst part though. They are not the straight leg type to be worn with normal leather shoes. They are the type that are worn with the tall riding boots. The pants also barely fit me, and can't be fixed. Please let me know what I should do! I can deal with the jacket since I can make alterations to make it work, but the pants really irritate me as I made sure to confirm with him more than once that he was clear on the exact specifications of my order. Stuff was not only missing, but also just down right wrong. Last edited by CtahhR; 11-28-2012 at 09:11 AM. |

Re: soviet uniform came in-Need Advice!
Hello 90cent,
Sorry to hear about such a troubled turnout.. I guess the lesson here is never to deal with those sellers.. I'd suggest considering selling this set before the nip & tuck starts to some collector that maybe will be Ok with it (it is an historical memorabilia nevertheless..) and contacting Tretov, who is a member here and is the top notch dealer for soviet post ww2 uniforms. My 2 cents.. :)

Re: soviet uniform came in-Need Advice!
may I ask if this uniform came from the Ukraine?
If so I am not surprised at the service you recieved or the legitimacy of the uniform itself. A true shame, but do you at least have the riding boots? |

Re: soviet uniform came in-Need Advice!
The patch should not be there, hopefully it is just stitched and not glued. Remove it. The left shoulderboard is misaligned or in worst case too short, the upper edge should as you surely know be hidden under the collar. Also, remove the badge from the collar, it is just added to make it look "better".
Making it a colonel uniform is no big deal, add a star on each shoulder, but all should be golden. It is no use buying uniforms from Ukrainians and ask for size fits, most likely they don't care. I am sorry to say, but you get what you pay for. ps! If the jacket is "elephant size" (US44-46) I may be interested. That is, if you want to get rid of it. Re: soviet uniform came in-Need Advice!
Tetrov is right, most Ukrainian sellers do not give a damn about your size!
They seem to find it easier to just toss a random uniform into a box and send it out... Hopefully you did not pay too much for this uniform. |

Re: soviet uniform came in-Need Advice!
I was wondering what this style of pants is called in Russian? I do not have any straight leg pants, only this style. Sorry.
