This is what I used to do before I started collecting the real thing... First, I needed some uniforms to help me paint my figures accurately, then I bought another... then another... and finally, started buying more uniforms than modelling!

Aren´t they?

I will also make another one, but when I saw these ones, than saw mine again... Mine are pitiful, compared to the high level detailed stuff shown here... *SigH*

I am unfamiliar with the whole process. Do they buy little people and tanks/equipment and build the scene? Or do they do it all from scratch?

They buy everything, then paint it, assemble it, and then they decorate it to make it look so detailed. And there is when their skill is shown

Interesting hobby - historical diorams and figurines

I grew up making 1:35 scale military dioramas. I used to be able to paint the details of the eyes and awards. I miss it. Thanks for sharing those websites!!!

It is really impressive, how do you paint the awards of that size? Do you need a magnification glass or something?

Yes,
It is very interesting!! I had a Hobby workers clamp. Basically, a heavy base with two arms with clamps on them to hold the piece to be painted and I used a lighted magnifier on a swing arm clamped to my work bench. Using these to hold, light and magnify the 1:35 scale figure, I painted the eyes and awards with a a fine hair artists paint brush that I trimmed down to one fine hair. It took a lot of PRACTICE, PRACTICE and more PRACTICE
It was a lot of fun!!!

Best,
Doc

My english is rather crappy...did I get it right? A brush with ONE single hair? You paint the figures with a brush with ONE hair? Hell, that sound like a really difficult hobby. But very cool too.
