Azerbaijan Institute Of Oil And Сhemistry Badge.

Any ideas what this very well constructed badge is?
Bought it in Ashkabad(Ashgabat) about eight years ago, didnt pay more than a tenner (a fortune in those days) Seems to be gold plate and silver on white enamel. Something to do with oil/gas is my guess

reverse quite thick metal held by five pins. nut, heavy with monyetni dvor on it

I have 2-3 of these badges. I was very puzzled at first, too. Now I think that they are for graduates of the Baku Oil and Gas Institute. At least, that's what Vitaly down at the Dry Bridge told me. He is fairly knowledgeable and it does make some sense.

Things here in Tbilisi are going to hell in a handbasket, with parliamentary elections coming up. If you have some time to pass on the information we discussed, I would be glad to have it.
