Very unusual case - Lenin and October Revolution - re-issued as Duplicates in 2001 in Ukraine.
Note the documents with Ukrainian writings and stamps. Text reads like this: ""Decree of Commission for State Awards and Heraldic in the Administration of the President of the Ukraine" The questions that I have - Does new Ukrainian State have the authority to issue awards of the Soviet Union - 10 years after the USSR ceased to exist? Where did the awards come from? Is there some sort of depository with old supplies where USSR awards and documents are kept till this day? William |

the existence of such a fund of medals doesn't surprises me, governemental reserves and goods are often huge.
But what about a type 7 soviet document? (type 8=red cover isn't it?) why didn't they used a full ukrainian document? but the booklet is consistent with the fact of rewarding a former soviet award. Does this commission really exist? would be interesting (paranoia) to see the decree letter adressed to the recipient for confirmation.

Very nice! I am quite impressed... The latest awards I've ever seen were Soviet awards issued by the (what was left of the) USSR in 1992. William - Neat group! If it were offered to me, I'd definately pick it up!

Dave,
I 100% share your ehthusiasm! When I saw this group - I was stunned! This is a phenomenon in itself and I am surprised how little attention this absolutely unique group received on this Forum. We collectors are strange bunch, as we can devote pages and pages to some ugly fake or some stupid znachki/badge, but true rarity like the one I posted gets no recoqnition... William |
