Strange protective helmet - not tanker, not airborne

Any thoughts on what it might be? Looks like tanker helmet, but with no space for the phones. On the other hand - it's not the same as VDV and even if it's for airborne - why is it black?

Maybe submarine or aerospace ?

It looks to be of very good quality material, that is used by firebrigades.
It looks fire retardant.

Are You sure about that? the only source known to me that states so is Ospreyu book (not too reliable). And it seems that the actual vdv troopers have never seen the black one.

Volstad's artwork in Soviet Bloc Elite Forces is based on the b/w illustration of the page 7, helmets are very dark, surely not in the usual khaki colour.

Re: Strange protective helmet - not tanker, not airborne

Allthat I can say from that very dark photo is that the helmets are darker than uniforms (which are of unknown color themselves).
Also, a person with parachuting experience claims that it cannot be for airborne because of the neck protection piece (typical for tank helmets), that could cause some problems during the parachute opening, although I personnaly can't say how much true it is.
