Established on the 18th of June 1947. Given to military personnel and civilians for their great achievements and successes. until 1950, there was 5 classes but since only 3. Pictured is an Order 1st Class. No serial number.

Here's some pics of a 2nd class in a plastic case with the Bulgarian arms on it. According to the award booklet, issued in 1988.

Matthijs,

This case is quite common, it's a generic case that many of the 1980's awards came with.

fair enough, and thanks for the info. I have a lot of Bulgarian stuff, but all in those cardboard boxes. At any rate, it shows the ribbon bar and the miniature also, which is quite interesting.

Here's the order booklet that came with the cased order and the inside...

hello Gentlemen, would you be kind enough to tell me the serial numbers of the booklet (I think they do exist on the first entry page)...it is for an inquiry about serial numbers/awarding dates, to detect possible faking...

Charlet,

Bulgarian awards do not have serial numbers (with exception of some very early emissions, which isn't the case here).

That's not serial number you're referring to, that's number of the decree of the awarding authority.

Single decree could include awards to more than one person.

william, I agree on these two points, but the booklets do have a serial number, as soviet ones does. I only want to work on booklets s/n. The s/n for medals are too scarce and cover only the 50'...I want to check if there's a coherence between s/n and decree dates.

Sebastien,

You can certainly try and put together a table referencing bookles SNs to the award dates, but I don't think that such exercise would yield any practical results.

My inmpressionis that Bulgarians were less formal with their award system, as compared to the Soviets.

Hi Sebastien,

I checked the order booklet, and the only writing or text in it is on the page I posted a pic of in post #9. There is no other writing whatsoever I'm afraid. The booklet was issued in 1988, so maybe they had stopped numbering the booklets at some point before then.
