Unkown Screwback Labor Badge - no text

I picked this up a week ago, but really have no idea what it is. It would seem to be 50's vintage from the overall quality and look, but I don't know. Any ideas out there?

This is Mining Engineering Institute graduation badge, circa 1950s - 1960s.
