What do you think this cap is currently for sale on e. .. ?. The buttons are dated 1988. The band is magenta (raspberries)

Re: Cap infantry general

i saw this one too.

the band is not raspberry magenta.
it is the plain old infantry red.
you only posted one picture on the other one in the action you can clearly see it is the common red of infantry.

it is a good cap i guess.
i have one otherwise i would be bidding on this one.
taken that it is an unissued one.

Re: Cap infantry general

Thanks Ser-g:

I have asked the owner what color the band said that it is magenta.

I doubt it raises the cap, but "authentic", manufacturing after 1991. I asked about the date of the buttons and he said 1988 and at that time the color of the band was united red motorized infantry.

Sweat label has no date or size, often associative this post-Soviet production.

This is my big question.

Re: Cap infantry general

indeed this cap looks like a fine cap indeed.

i think based on the pictures you showed it is an late or near post-soviet production. so some where in between 1988 and 1992 or so.

i think this cap was not intentionally made for collectors, as it seems to have the right bullion.

tretov or dougd may see some thing we have missed , they are the best with this stuff.

I like the cap, probably a late issue - if even issued - and I personally think it is magenta/pink/raspberry although colours can be really tricky. The other day I bought a parade-walkout set that I first thought was magenta/pink/raspberry but turned out to be ... red. :chuckle

Re: Cap infantry general

i think it is red because of this second picture in the action.

Re: Cap infantry general

Good friends:
Here you have another example of a cap on the buttons do not correspond with the dates of use of this model. The buttons are dated back to 1990 when this model was used until 1980.

this particulair cap was reiterated with the 1989-1991 uniform changes.
in the periode between 1980 and 1989 it was not autorised for wear.
caps of this kind with buttons of 88 or some imes even 87 can be found around.
this because of using up old stock before using newer buttons.
it is known to find this kinda cap with buttons from after 1991 too , as it seemed to be in service till at least the 1993 uniform changes.

the only difference that seems to be common enough between the pre 1980 and the post 1989 model in that all pre 1980 were dated on the diamond.
most of the post 1989 are not dated as was more and more common.

grey visor caps with service cap bullion do not exist in the regulations... do you have an explanation?
