Greatcoat-Tag

Hello,

I haven't written anything for a while. I was wondering if someone could help with the abbreviation MSR at the top of this tag? It's attached to a greatcoat. What does it mean? I'll put pictures of the coat on later. Thanks!

In case you were unaware, this is not an official factory tag, but a unit-level addition, required so a soldier could determine his own issue.

Which would be why his name is at the bottom. Sort of a like writing your name on the labels/tags of shirts, jackets, underwear, etc.

Thanks for the information. Here's the coat. There isn't any other insignia on it. I'm going to wash it though since it's pretty dirty.

Do you remember all of the feedback you got when you mentioned cleaning a uniform here: http://www.soviet-awards.com/forum/s...g-uniform.html ?

I've never seen a Soviet greatcoat without brass buttons before. I'm sure they existed for the field, especially by the time Afghanistan rolled around, but I have never personally seen one. Would you mind posting a few more shots of the collar, shoulders and the buttons?:)

Actually the coat is just missing the buttons. I remember the feedback and I know it's best not to clean a uniform but sometimes it must be done. You wouldn't want this coat until it's cleaner.

No buttons missing here, it fastens with metal hooks.
