New book - list of Heroes of SU
Dear all,
WOW!!!! A fellow collector in Russia just told me that publishers of Ordenskaya Knizhka magazine finished unique reference material - Heroes of SU reference volume. Heroes of SU reference contains information about roughly nine thousand Hero title recepients, including: - number of award, - first, middle and last name of the awardee, - date of Supreme Soviet Decree, - etc. I was told that the price of this book is 300 rubles in Moscow (about $10), which sounds dirt cheap to me. Publishers of Ordenskaya Knizhka magazine plan to have a library of reference books, Heroes of SU being the first one. Rumor has it that Glory Cavaliers reference will be published soon. If anyone heard about this - please confirm if this is true. Best regards, William |

Just got a copy of this booklet today. WOW!!!! It's 161 pages long, and lists all of the Heroes of the USSR by:
--Gold Star Number--Name--Date of Ukaz--Date of Death-- It's a very impressive work, and the authors definately deserve our kudos!!! --Dave |

It looks like this book will make obsolete some of the services offered by the dealers, such as determining name by the number on the Gold Star.
I've heard that the list of Glory winners is next... |

According to the intro, they plan on publishing the following books:
-"Twice Heroes of the USSR" and -"Cavaliers of the Order of Glory" Since there are similar lists out for some of the 1st Class awards (Nakhimov, Ushakov and Homeland come to mind) what would be nice to see is name/number lists for the 1/2/3rd classes of Khmelnitsky, Suvorov and Kutuzov. How about the names and s/n's of the first 10,000 awards of the Red Banner? On a grander scale, the names of Nevsky recipients? It's nice to dream! :) (Though we have similar books for most of the higher US awards, some covering 75,000+ names, so it's not impossible, just improbable that they will ever make them for some of the Soviet awards!) If anyone wants to put some of these books together, I'll be one of the first in line with financial backing! :) Here's a scan of a part of one of the pages. I have a private database of about 150 Gold Star numbers with their names, and compared them to this list... Everything matches up 100%! --Dave Last edited by CtahhR; 02-20-2014 at 11:52 AM. |

Dave, all that from the new book? Or you have the archival records for every HSU recipient?

Is there any chance to check the numbers of the other awards if they are matching for this guy, as I have Lenin, Nevsky and 2 Red Banners with the HSU star?

To Yolkin - the list of his awards in HSU 2 volume reference
To Andrey300 - there is a chance, you have to order his award card (Uchetnaya kartochka). It will take around $50 and a few months |
