They could be as they could not be. Do they have any visible maker´s mark?

Asjemenou,
As Esteban said, they could be. Can you post a large, clear picture of the side and front stiching at ankle level. Marc |

Russian army ankle boots
It seems that the boots are not Russian but German. I got a few other pictures from possible Russian army ankle boots. Does anyone recognize them as possible Russian shoes? In the third picture lays in front of the shoes a German canteen. I have no idea why the canteen is photographed with the shoes.

Asjemenou,
These are not Russian; most likely as you wrote they are German. Marc |

Thanks for your reply Lapa. So, I understand from your reply that the ankle shoes are neither Russian. But how does a Russian WWII army boot or shoe really looks like than? I have a few reference books about Russian WWII military uniforms and equipment but these books do not display the footwear of the Russian soldier into detail. So, how to recognize Russian WWII army footwear?
Can the ankle shoes be Russian or not? Last edited by CtahhR; 04-16-2014 at 09:25 PM. |

Thanks for the pictures of the Russian dug up shoes. They give me some idea or how a Russian WWII army shoe should look like. Sometimes it is not so easy for me to get/find details of a certain piece of equipment of a Russian WWII soldier.
I also got a few pictures from Russian WWII shoes from other people. One of them said that typical for Russian WWII army shoes is the use of nails at the flap beside the shoelaces. See the red arrow on the pictures. |

asjemenou,
You mean rivets, not nails; that is right, most of them have these rivets. Soles differ sometimes: either leather, but that is somewhat unusual, or molded plastic more often. Marc |

Russian WWII footwear
You are absolutely right, they are rivets not nails. Thanks for your answers anyway. I have learned something more about Russian WWII footwear. :thumbsup
