Meritorious Navigator Of The USSR.
Here's a civilian navigator, and what I believe is a T1 of this medal.

Meritorious Navigator Of The U.S.S.R.
1st variation - medallion and suspension are made of German silver; plane is made of tombac and gilt, attached to the medallion with two rivets; serial number is hand engraved; raised MMD mint mark. Screwplate is made of German silver with raised "Monetniy Dvor" mintmark. This badge was established in 1965, when other badges in this group were no longer made of precious metals, so I am assuming that this is the first variation. At this moment I don't have any reliable information about later variations. Total number of awards is unknown.
Total weight without the screwplate - 18.0 grams Weight of the medallion - 9.2 grams Screwplate - weighs 2.2 grams, measures 16mm in diameter Suspension measures 24.5mm x 16mm Medallion measures 27.5mm x 23.0mm (without the loop and the extended piece of metal with "CCCP") Last edited by Nota Bene; 01-10-2006 at 06:17 PM. |

Do you believe in miracle??? !!!
For sale on e-site:
The honorary title “Meritorious Navigator of the USSR” was established by decree of the Presidium of Supreme Soviet Council of the USSR on the 30 September 1965. By the same decree were confirmed the statute and badge (medal) of the honorary title. On 16 August 1966 by another decree of the Presidium of SSC of the USSR the first group of five navigators of the Soviet air fleet were awarded the honorary titles and medals. Have you ever seen a genuine Soviet documented reward under NUMBER ONE? Now you see it! This badge / medal really has at its back number 1. It is not well seen at the photos but the best proof that the badge is under number ONE is its small diploma numbered 000001. Beside the small diploma there is also the big diploma signed by N.V. Podgorni, the Chairman of the Presidium of Supreme Soviet Council of the USSR. This unique full set of one of the most rare Soviet badges/medals with its two diplomas could be yours! WOW!! NUMBER ONE!!! BUT: 1.Very small images. 2. Seller with 0 feedback. 3.I don't like MMD,number 1 - but, again, pictures are too small. Comments please!!!
