Medal "For The Defence Of Leningrad".

I have a similar unusual document. It is a Defense of Leningrad I bought some years ago..

Matteti,

Could you please post an enlarged scan of the gerb of the USSR at the top of the document. Personally, I do not like the color of the paper.

Gents,

I don't see any problems with the first document.

Matteti,

Thank you for the scans, I agree with Alexei. What really threw me off was the shade of the paper in your first scan.

It is fortunately not so common, but I've seen a few times this crude job on medals, especially campaign medals.

Obviously a crude repair to hang the medal after the ring broke off. I have seen some like this too on other campaign medals.

Don't you find the details to be very blurry on the medal surface? Mostly the obverse. To my not-expert opinion , it looks like a copy.

I think you could put that down to wear. I can't imagine a forger going to the extra trouble of breaking the ring and drilling a hole...if anything its value may go down..

Just my few pence worth :-)

Would one of you Soviet Union historians share some insight on the Soviet Seal with 11 ribbons. When did the last 4 or so republics join the union?

LRE

I answered my own question about the number of ribbons. Info found at:
