Order of the badge of honor - engraved reverse
Hi
I think it is interesting to know more about Soviet orders like this one - currently on ebay - with the recipient name engraved on the back: |

engravings on other medals and orders
I´ve seen this before. Is it made by the regement or veteran.
I have seen it on order of the red star, 20 years RKKA, medal for bravery in combat and on Medal for combat service. The odd thing is that all the medals were in the same store in Tallinn, Estonia and none were the same name. Besides that shop which had mostly junk except this 4 medals. I didn´t buy any since I didn´t know if it was genuine. Sorry, no pics. Please post new replies. THis area is interesting. Best

Very interesting, but not totally unusual. I think I have a similarly named Red Star somewhere. Will try to find it.

What is the opinion of the group on this one? Is the medal and the engraving original? What about the patina? I've not seen engraving like this before. If it's good, is it worth the price asked?
All the best, Doug |

Doug,
I was so concentrated on the name, I forgot to look at the other details. Hmmm... I am puzzled. 25,XXX-30,XXX range is sort of a dark area for this Order. Both screwback and the flatback types exist in this range. I have never seen a serial number engraved this neatly on either type, but the style of the digits matches that of the letters in the name. It is obviously a custom job. The patina looks OK to me. I am inclined to believe that it is genuine, but will not bet on it. This piece was awarded in December 1942-January 1943. I don't know what the asking price is, but I'd pay $50-60 for it provided that the seller offeres a money back guarantee. Alexei |

Well, the seller ask $125.00 as a start, or $250.00 for "buy it now". it comes with document which I am not familliar with:

Tal,
This is not an official award document, but sort of an advanced warning. The signature may be worth something, but $125 still seems a little too much. Alexei |
