GPW gimnastyorka?
Could someone give me an approximate production date of this gimnastyorka? Could it be wartime? There are no stamps in it.
Thanks, Auke |

Auke,
From the look of it, I'd say early 1940's, before 1943. Marc |

pullover
auke,
there are some guys here who can tell (or at least they claim they can tell) a pullover made in 1943 from one made in 1948, etc. Its very tough. I'd say it's 1943 or later based on the holes and loops for the missing shoulderboards and the high closed neck collar. Did you check to see if there are any dates on the back of the buttons? Postwar ones often have a 2 digit date (or a mark where the date has been scratched out to make it look war time). DougD |

Thanks for your replies guys. There are no dates on the back of the buttons or signs of scratching.

Unless it's converted, it's for NKVD or it's descendant organizations.
If the buttons are not numbered, I would guess it's not newer than early 50's. (The earliest dated small buttons I have seen were I think 1954) Could well be wartime. |
