Lenin Badges
Hi to all,
i have one question to you since i think you can answer. Please check the attachment and i hope u can tell what it is. It come to me together with supreme soviet and 50 years membership of the communist party badges what belonged to one high communist estonian in soviet times. I never saw this lenin badge before and no one couldn't tell me what it is, since they saw it also first time. Badge is cold plated. Regards LR |

Maybe it is a badge commemorating Lenin's 100th Birthday, 1970, a complement to the real anniversary medal.

I agree, looks like one of these "100 Years of Lenin's birth commemorative pins. Is it really gold plated ? Can we see the back ?

Here's another pin which, in my view, is very well made- definitely not a "throw away"- but one that I cannot attribute to a particular organization, department or event. The attributes that motivated me toward purchasing it: the obvious 2-piece construction, the detail of the rope on the flag pole, the detail in the flag folds and a "mint-mark" on the reverse. This, along with the flag pin previously discussed, ends the pins/badges in my collection to which I cannot assign any particular reason/function.

Lenin Badges
Hi,
could this be a Lenin Mourning badge from the 1920´s? What is the badge for? This type of screw plate looks rather old. best regards Andreas |

Re: Lenin's Mourning badge, 1924 issue ?
It very well could be, and if if so one I haven't seen before. The screwplate is intersting in that the number appears to be an address and the Cooperative was located on Kuznets. Most if I remember correctly. I used to buy badges based on those screwplates. The plate is typical of late 20's. A tourist guide book of 1928 says the best artisan metal items come from the cooperatives on Kuznetz most.

Re: What is it?
It looks nice and probably made in the 1950s because of the enamel and brass, but I cannot make out the first scribbled word. I can see that the second is "Lenin" and I hope that the first is not "Vladimir" making this a facsimile of Lenin's signature. That would seem like a silly reason to get the MMD to manufacture a pin/badge like this.
Any ideas what it is for and what the first word is? Many thanks, Phillip

Re: What is it?
First word is "I Uljanov" (where I is for Ilyich).

Re: What is it?
Ah, it's so easy to see "with a little help from my friends...":thumbsup Now I just have to wonder why the MMD would be making simple little propaganda pins like this one. Maybe after the GPW they had to take up the slack in order and medal production with odd jobs.:D
Actually, I found a second edition (with smaller mint mark) so I guess they were more popular than I first thought. Phillip
