Kieth - a great point.
I also collect German orders and medals...my best source being in Germany.
The marked increase in value of EURO against the dollar has had a significant impact on prices and my "initiative" to collect those items at the moment!

Noticed in the website of a well known NJ dealer : the Order for Personal Courage, Var. 1, SN7739, circa 1991, PMD COA, for sale without success during some 2 years time, is now proposed at $1,275.00.
It former price was $1,100.00, after having been around $1,000.00.
Last increase : +15% !! Will this increase contribute more to its sale ?

It is simple. When collectors see that the prices are the same (or go down), they don’t buy, waiting for better deal. When prices are going up collectors are afraid that they will be higher tomorrow and buy the order or medal. If you need a Star of Hero of USSR, not too many dealers have it; you probably would buy it now for $3500.00 (blaming your self for not buying for $2900.00) but the same time being afraid that it will be $4500.00 tomorrow. I think this is the main reason of raising prices today.
