Way, way back in Stone Age times when the Nautilus was de-commissioned, I knew a guy from the Mossad. Well, he didn't show me an ID card, of course, but it was understood that he was. He is long since dead. He approached me (why me, I never could figure out) about buying the Nautilus "only for a museum". Yeah, right. A museum for live nukes, maybe. I'm sure he never envisioned the day when you could just buy one on the internet. I know I didn't. No sale.
On a slightly smaller scale, if you have the cash you can buy brand-new T-90s. Supposed to be the world's best tank and maybe is. The Russians can't afford their own equipment but they can sell it abroad. No, they're not on Ebay, but they're available. Just ask the Indians and Pakistanis. And, of course, there are several other electric and nuke boats for sale in the world and the Russians are even offering leasing terms on "pre-owned" subs. It just gets curiouser and curiouser. I don't believe it for a minute. The submarine buyers market simply isn't on Ebay. It exists, but it isn't there. I just wanted to say earlier that there are more weird things out there than we know. If you want a sub that bad, just go to Murmansk and dredge one of the half-submerged ones up. I'm sure you can get a great deal on one of those rust buckets. A little paint and "Welcome to the Cold War Museum."

A few months ago, I saw a FERRY being sold on eBay, and it sold at a high price!! I think it was the Washington State government that sold it. So there is some kind of ship-buying market on eBay after all!

If that's the ferry that I think it was, it isn't just an ordinary ferry and it has an interesting story. It is a Seattle, one-off, art-deco-style massive ferry (if you can imagine such a thing) that was retired and turned into a fish processing plant in Alaska. It was re-discovered in the '90s and purchased and brought back for some odd-ball purpose, a museum or something. It didn't get off the ground (pun intended) and I think it was seized by some arm of government, then sold. I haven't researched this, it is only as I remember it.

As posted earlier in this thread, the seller is offering once again the "medals from Joseph Stalin's personal collection". This time he is modest, not 2000$ and up....it is now 6 days 14 hours till the end and the high bid is US $16.50 .
The story, however, is the same....: "From Joseph Stalin's Personal Collection! These medals were from Joseph Stalin's personal collection. They were part of a collection of a number of items that were from a lady living in Belarus named Olga Golak. Her husband was a close acquaintance with Joseph Stalin. The collection contained a book personally inscribed to Mr. Golak, a high ranking official in the Communist Party, from Mr. Stalin. The book was dated 20, Nov, 1947. These medals were given to her husband in the early 1960's after Mr. Stalin's death. They were given to him by family members that had know him during the earlier years. The book had been sold earlier. The book and medals were obtained by a Mr. R. G. Mulhern in the 1980's. She sold the items to him. There is a letter from R.G. Mulhern explaining all of these details that was notarized in March of 1999, in San DIego. I purchased this item from Todd Mueller Autographs, an extremely reputable dealer. These items must be very verifiable, if they were purchased from this dealer. The pictures are included of the medals. The bronze colored medal has a picture of Nicholas Romanov and was issued in 1913 for the 300th anniversary of the Romanov Dynasty. The other silver colored medal also has a picture of Nicholas Romanov and has a serial number on the back and other Russian writing. The other medal has Russian on one side and something about France on the back. It may have been issued to commemorate the Russian- French alliance from World War I, but I don't know. These items are amazing, as they were in the possession of one of the most powerful people in the 20th Century. Joseph Stalin was one of the most influential people in world history from 1913-1950. He built the Soviet Union and with it changed world history forever. An unbelievable part of history for any collector of Soviet or world history. The folder with the letter comes from the French Company, which I am assuming is who Mr. Mulhern either worked for or sold them to, originally. I am selling these, as I have no room to display them (got married!)." What a load of C--P!
