I have opened here a specific thread dedicated to the Museum of the Defence and Blockage of Leningrad :
http://www.soviet-awards.com/forum/showt...php?t=4807 I paid it a visit during my short stay in St Petersburg, and I can only recommand to spend here a while. This museum opened just after the blockade was lifted, and in its actual version, dates from 1989. Ch.

The orders that the city of Leningrad received are normally displayed on the front of the building... but impossible to see here. Ch. Pic : © Christophe – ChR Collection

Built in 1838, to mark victories against the Turks, Persians and Poles. Demolished in 1936, it has been rebuilt between 1959 and 1961. it has some similarities with the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin.
Pic taken from a car, so not so optimum in terms of precision... Ch. Pic : © Christophe – ChR Collection

Christophe,
Nice pics! BTW, did you take them with a camera phone? Rusty.

Hi Rusty,
Thanks for the compliment... if it's one !! Is the quality of my pics so bad ? I know my digital camera is old enough... but thinking they have been taken with a phone... There is quite a distance !! i'm kidding !! I have other interesting (I think) pics to post here and in the thread dedicated to the Museum of the Defence and Blockade of Leningrad. I'll do it gradually. To conclude : my trip was a fantastic one, and I just hope these pics give a good impression of it and the envy for other Members to go there. Cheers. Ch.
