Are "Copies" OK IF KNOWN?

CtahhR Wrote:When it comes to Hero stars I only have Bulgarian and DPRK Labour ones. But I can tell you very honestly that there is nothing like holding and experiencing the real thing. The DPRK "Hero Of Labour" is a nice early numbered (<150) Soviet made piece and the quality and meaning of it expands far beyond a piece of metal.

The copies just can't offer you the same sensation as the real thing. It could be equated to non-alcoholic beer. It might look like beer, taste like beer, quench thirst like beer but you're not going to get merry no matter how much you throw down.

Actually awarded rather than just "made". Either to a Korean for Labour effort or a Chinese soldier for heroics on the battlefield during the Korean War. Not yet researchable but maybe one day.

I ABSOLUTELY agree, having the real thing is the total best and having a fake is NOTHING but a total compromise.

OMG, your medal IS GORGEOUS! I LOVE IT!

Yes, labor hero awards are one of my addictions. Here are just five that dwell with me (some in groups). There are others.

You can enjoy the DPRK Hero Of Labour knowing I paid $320 for it 2 years ago. It doesn't always cost the world to have a high end item.

When you have a good quality item for a good quality deed it really makes the difference. The Bulgarian Hero Of Socialist Labour I have was awarded as a 70th Birthday present so, to me at least, it doesn't have the same feel as a lower award which was granted for a quantifiable action.

This is very much where collecting awards and collecting items split.
