Frieza,
Which order exactly are you referring to? If you are referring to the one on his right breast, right next to the Red Star, then this is the "star" for the Order for Services to the Motherland I class. See attached picture.

Another picture:
Young Kalashnikov: Kalashnikov with.....AK 47: Inspecting an order: with the sash of the order of merit: interesting: Mihail Kalashnikov only display his orders, but no medals! The only pictures in which his medals could be identifiable are pictures like the one below, with ribbons:

I recommend going to the following website to get information on the Russian Federation awards:
http://www.gov.ru/nagrad/index.htm The site is in Russian but gives excellent information on the new awards. Merry Christmas to all, Bill

I still say that the older Soviet uniforms were much better for displaying medals ribbons and orders than the new Russiaqn Federation uniforms.

As seen last week in Athens, the poster in the honour of the 85 years of Mikhail Kalashnikov, born in 1919.
The picyure used is a well known one. Just notice that except a Russian Federation State Prize, no other Russian awards are displayed. Any reason or explanation for this ? There are more recent pictures (see this thread) with his Russian orders... Why ? Is it nostalgia from him ? Cheers. Ch.
