Soviet uniforms -- for comment
#31
Guys,

I am glad it helps.

I was going through my books and found this.

It's a 1931 badge for veterans of Severo-Zapadnaya Armiya. According to the book, it's design is based on the arm patch they wore.

Alexei

Two more --

1- Rail transport (kind of wrinkled, but were you that old, . . . .), 1922-24.

Collar and very odd (!) buttons.

The left (of course) sleeve. Komandir Otdeleniya.

Andddd . . . .

2- Officers' dolman (pelisse?) from the Zavolzhskaya Cavalry Brigade; they went over en masse to the Bolsheviks . . . with very basic Red Guards armband . . . if you look under the right light you can see "RKKA" on the patch.

Closeup. Heavy padded/quilted interior and fur ("fur"?) collar.

And, for those who like to see the backs of ribbon bars the . . . er . . . uum . . . back side.

And . . . on the left . . . in natural light, you can see the star outline and "RKKA" in black. The gray triangle . . . "rank" . . . Komandir Otdeleniya? . . . this early???

One more, perhaps the least elegant military headgear ever designed, but I like it anyway.

And, for colder weather. Named (?) across outer crown. What I read as MEДВEДEВ (Medvedev) but I am often wrong.

Ed, I'll caveat my comment with the disclaimer that I'm not a cloth guy.

I don't like the appearance of this piece. The red stripe was worn by partisans as an identifying feature on civilian clothes - something done going back to the Civil War.

You have to ask why both the hat and red stripe look like they were made yesterday. Pieces I've seen with these red stripes always look like they were worn for months or years in the field, around camp fires, getting rain and snowed on, etc.
