I've been searching the forum for any information about the seriall numbers range for afgan war, but found nothing interesting. So can someone please tell me what is the lowest and higest observed seriall number for the red stars awarded for afgan war.

It's tough to make a call of what Red Stars were and were not awarded for Afghanistan. They are really hit-and-miss...you'll find 10 for WW2 wounds for every Afghan War one you find - all in the same serial number range. In my personal database, the earliest Afghan War serial number I have is 3738669 and the latest one I have is 3763088. I'm certain that awards fall outside those awards as well, but that's a good reference...you'll probably have the best researchable "luck" finding one between 3730000 and 3770000.
Hope that helps!

Thanks a lot guys! I wasn't aware that the red stars in that seriall range were still awarded for ww2 wounds... I thought that most of the late red stars were awarded for current actions of the time...
So now I think that with a limited budget it's not worth looking for a afgan war red stars.

Alnigi - one more data point for your date ranges: I have ORS #3,778,142 with a doc awarding it in October 1986.

This is just approximate serial numbers some inconsistency can explain the fact that people are receiving the Order in different places. Orders issued by the districts(voecomat) after soldier came back or issued posthumously, numbers are almost always lower than issued in Afghanistan.

I sure did, and I picked up another MZPP Red Star two days ago, and an OG3/ORS documented group the day before that! I think that brings me to either 64 or 65 total stars. I don't know why I'm compelled to just keep buying! ;)
Maybe I'm not hopeless: I passed on another MZPP today (along with three other ORS's) because the guy wanted a bit too much. I figure I'll wait him out. :D
