Red Star.
Where is Mondvor when you need him. Anyone else want to hazzard a guess?

Ok, so the lone entry in Paul's book "EOW" states that 2.459.453 when to "Marshall Yakubovskii". I am assuming that this is the same person that was head of the Warsaw Pact in the 50's and 60's.

Now he received his on November 6, 1947. This is over two years after the 2.5 group started receiving theirs and given that date was probably a long service award.

Interestingly enough, the 2.293.696 medal Paul lists was issued by the Supreme Soviet in May 17, 1951. Something doing with Korea?

Did they ever exist? Did they stop production for a time and then started back up and began with a good even number? 2.500.000?

Good question on the missing block and I don't have an answer.

I've expanded my original Echoes list by 3 times and still don't have anything in that block except the Marshal mentioned above.

I did read in the excellent book on the Order of the Red Banner that there were two numerated blocks where the mint didn't make any pieces. It may be the same for Red Stars.

I won this on Eb?y yesterday on the hope that it might be a 2.4 million star.

What do others say about the number? It could be 4, 9 or 0. The guy that sold it thought it was 9 or 0.

Jeff,

Personally, I read a "9"

Notice the two attached photos.

They are of star #2.097.379 and #2.963.636

The first star should have similar numbers when it comes to the digit in question being a "0". However, while the bottom of the 2 is similar, the top is not. Also the "0" on the supplied photo is different than the one in the picture in question.

Second star should have similar numbers when it comes to the digit in question being a "9". However, the two is different and the 9, while it could be similar, is actually more rounded at the top and bottom. Also notice the 8's are too wacky for that series.

Ok, final comment (I think this horse is dead), we are assuming that the MzPP stars end before 2.3 million. What if they didn't? What if they have been kept back only to be released, there by flooding the market and making my tiny little corner of the market virtually worthless?

Putin, what are you up to!!!!!

ok, so it just occurred to me how we can solve this problem.

If Note Bene, would have his researcher go and try to pull some award cards for any of those number, just spot pull and see if there are some cards. Of course, I have no idea how difficult that would be. They are probably not in numerical order under "ORS 2.300.001, ORS 2.300.002, etc" but what about that idea?

Looking at what I've got at home, I am also firmly in the "9" camp.

Jeff,

You are using numbers too far apart IMHO!
