Fake Orders of the Red Star
CtahhR Wrote:Beyond that GPW catch ups etc go well beyond that. Into the 3.8 millions.

Everything is viable for fakery when it comes to Red Stars - including the fake research.

Ignorance is bliss - specially if you intend to make a killing from someone half clued up.

Awarded in 1952 - Korea? NO!
Awarded in 1956 - Hungary? NO!
Long service? YES!

General useful tip.

Perhaps;

Awarded in 1956 - Hungary? Unlikely but possible
Long service? Most probably

would be more true?

This Red Star is currently on the favorite auction site.
How do others feel about it?
The serial number strikes me as odd 179831, has a worn down look to it, buffed down, but a decent layer of patina on it.

Thoughts?

It's polished and the enamel (or parts of it) may have been replaced, but the star is original.

Could be legit, doesn't look like buffing occurred. Does look weird though.

I bought it an auction lot as follows: 2 x ORS, 2 x B of H, 2 x Patriotic War £50 $81. Let me sort out a better picture....... ;)

I think the number is 1732777. Would also make more sense given the large mint mark and rounded arm tips.
