Looks like a cool homemade mod to me with a very normal brake in the starpoint enamel. I like it, but then again I like the beaten stepchildren the purists deride. Wink I would love to have one just for the cool weirdness of it. It's all about the story and the acomplishment, not the scars of the intervening years.

I will say that the enamel break might be a wee bit fresh. I bet someone dropped it in the past two or three years since I don't see the darker patina I usually see on the exposed areas of older breaks.
Could we just imagine the transformation has been made by the fighter's wife or daughter to wear it on her right breast, to honor the beloved and late parent ? I'm thinking more about a woman doing this to avoid holes in her "tailleur" or suit... Just and idea.

Ch.

PS : This also works with men... Wink We all have "transformed" Rolleyes awards in our collection, for wear by the awardee...

Not likely. In the Soviet Union it was a crime for someone to wear a decoration not personally awarded, and probably still is in Russia. Surviving family members could have kept them as mementos, but would never have been allowed to wear them. I suspect it is not only illegal, but taboo, too.

It might be a different case with "sweetheart" or commemorative pieces, such as miniature versions that could not possibly be mistaken for an authentic award.

Wow...The depth of the fantasy here is amazing.:laff
Soviet Union is the only country with an unpredictable ... past!
I suppose if leaning over a fellow male to look out of a window (or something like that) is gay they must have been really oppressed! Now how much Vodka has that seller been drinking is my question! I have all sorts of photos of all sorts of military and non-military items which I could make up strange fantasies and try and palm them off on idiots but hell the truth is hard enough to keep track of never mind all the lies too! Maybe the soldier I have a pictured with a dead pig ran off to Chile with it after the war and lived there happily ever after...:thumbsup

What a pity that someone has to sell a photo by this method. Marketing 101 might have helped this seller but then again it may be the reason why it was done this way...................
For some bizarre reason many individuals that sell photographs on EBay do this. Similarly when two women are posing together in an old photo, they are marketed as "lesbians". Just your average greedy EBayer being greedy.

The seller claims that the number of the star is 8599913
In my opinion if you turn the star in the wright direction, the number would be 2166658
