Due to the increasing number of posts on the Orders of Glory I have merged them all together under 1 sticky thread to make it easier for all users to find and read about this Order.

Hi!

There's an Order of Glory 3rd class for sale with a serial number of 659 515. The number sounds pretty high. Could anyone tell how many third class Glories were awarded during the second world war?
Reply
Stah, around 960-980,000 have been awarded all up. Though they still have awarded them as late as the 1980's and 90s I believe.

600k is not that high and could be awarded for wounds received. Having said that, I have 675k that was awarded in 1944.

As far as actual awards being awarded during world war 2, there is some conjecture, some say 200,00 others 400,00. During my current research I am finding awardings higher than 400k.

Another hot topic on Korean awarded Glories. Currently no supported documents have been shown for discussion. There are people who insist that Glories were awarded during this time, though as I said, no archival evidence has been submitted as yet.

I am hoping as part of my research project to find such evidence and be able to present it to the collecting community. Time will tell;)
