According to the ebay seller, it is. Looks new and not Soviet to me.

Any thoughts?

The badge is designated for a participant of nuclear testing. It is most certainly post-Soviet, but interesting nonetheless.

This is a new badge (Russia) "For Participant of Nuclear Testing"
Here are few more medals and badges issued in Russia related to this topic:
1. medal "For Bravery during the Nuclear Testing"
2. badge "50 Years of the First Nuclear Testing"
3. Cross "60 Years - Veteran of High Risk Troops" issued by Chernobyl Union of Russia. There are dates of the first nuclear testing.

Frightening stuff, no matter how you look at it.

Like Paul said, the badge is post-Soviet, especially if that is the original screw nut. But then, Eric's first picture above confirms that.

And Eric, don't you find the 60-year cross a little disturbing since it seems to pucture the world going up in a huge explosion?;) I suppose you could argue that the "world" of the people impacted by the Chernobyl disaster was destroyed - metaphorically and physically.
