Fake Labour Medals
#61
I am not so sure that the suspension is bad, at least I can't tell for sure from these pictures. In my past life as a dealer I once bought a high numbered medal on a genuine triangular suspension, so anything is possible.

These two just came to me from Ukraine. The price was right certainly.
Looking at them it seems they couldn't be more different from each other; one so dark and one so shiney. Like brothers from a different mother. ;)

Both the suspension loops are soldered, and the one on the dark medal is the same dark color. Were these loops (not the rings/ears that are part of the medal itself) silver as well?

Sadly the suspensions are not silver but cheap aluminum.

What say you learned gentlemen???

They look good to me. Also, the connecting link would have been silver and generally soldered.

I will say that I have found a couple in perfect condition with docs in the past year that had non-soldered connecting links. I know they are all supposed to be soldered, but these were in near-virgin condition, leading me to believe that some of these may have been issued with unsoldered links. Still, by far, the majority of these that I've seen (and that's a lot!) have been soldered.

I saw this one for sale and at first was confused by what appears to be an optical illusion regarding the closeup of the serial number. It looks stamped instead of engraved, but in the other pictures it seems normal.

At a quick glance, this one looks real enough - especially considering the price! But I just wanted to be sure because if somebody is selling even one faked piece, then he/she can't be trusted and shouldn't be patronized (IMHO).
