Here are some boys that have just liberated Harbin. One of them seems to have got some serious shrapnel stuck to his chest.
Unfortunately although these chaps are certainly "on duty" they are not "in action" maybe if the cameraman had been around a few hours earlier!

Here is Combat Medic "Sasha Kondaurova" getting back into the trench with a recovered wounded soldier. From the film "March Of Time One Day At War Russia 1943".
Very much in the thick of it. The final two images providing that the recovered soldier is very much alive and simply exhausted and relieved to be crashed out on the bottom of the trench. Unfortunately not been able to find her citations but the name could have been given wrongly or deliberately made up.

Here is Senior Pointsman of the Military-Operational Detachment of the People's Commissariat Of Lines Of Communication Hero Of Socialist Labour A. N. Aleksandrova.
No doubt calculating the optimum use of points on the railway to get the most logistical support.

Don't you think the accordion player looks like Michael Cudlitz in the role of Bull Randleman in Band Of Brothers?

Looks like the photographer is in the line of fire there is someone decides to loose a few rounds out.
I've found most "action" has the Soldiers running towards the enemy lines with the photographer photographing their backs. Medics and Scouts should be more easily photographed returning to the lines... If a decorated Scout is bringing a decorated Prisoner back could be a double win.
