I saw a bunch of these pop up on eBay recently. Not that that means anything about your badge. I'm no expert in these. D'you check Avers?

I have a small number of these that I got either directly from the family of the previous owners or an exceptionally reputable seller.

Recently, I saw one seller on ePay moving about 6 of these that sold for less than $30 each. When I see that many for sale from one person, I get worried that somebody is making them again.:( [Edit: just read Eric's reply after I finished mine.]

However, from what I can see, yours looks real. The enamel damage hurts to see, but still real.

I have, Andreas... That being said, these look somewhat convincing, but on such small pictures, even Kaddafi could be mistaken for Brad Pitt!

Phillip, enamel damage is no longer a proof of authenticity. Fakers have understood that for some time, and they are now "ageing" their enamelled production. Fortunately for us, they have not yet figured out how to make the damage look more convincing.

Marsino,

I can't talk for the others, but personally, I did see that first badge. The problem with this one is that this type of badge has been excellently faked for quite some time now. It looks convincing on these small pictures, but that is all I can say.

This was a personal reflection,
I do not like to buy on-line, I love to see and touch in person,
in this case I feel very helpless.
