Photographs Of Recipients Of Soviet Awards/Service Personnel.
Dat Nguyen Wrote:Well perhaps. Attached are 2 photos of boxes of Soviet re-issued German's pistols. The collector who own these pistols told me that German engineering are so good that you can take a part from different makers and put together one of these pistol and it will function normally.

Could the Soviets use German pistols/guns on those unfortunate Poles? I think so.

(slightly off topic).

and unfortunately that is exactly what they did when they refurbed those P-38s! (and P-08s and K98s and ........and........). They didn't bother to match up parts in any of the re-asenaled firearms including soviet ones (SVT-40, M91/30, M38, M44, etc). 99% of what we get of soviet arms in the US are not the original parts.

And thanks for the pics!, This is the first time I've seen the box of p-38s.

Going way off topic .... sorry Art :-)

The Soviet did what they have to do to survive .... and I think that we all would have done what it took to arm ourselves against any invaders.

Thanks for all the wonderful photos of these early Soviet para patches in wear. I just thought that I would add a bit of colour and share three of these patches from my collection. The piping colours are green, blue, and red, from left to right. My apologises for the lousy photography.

Best regards,

Jim

Hello Jim,

If you have the spare time, I would be interested in seeing images of the reverse of the three Paratrooper insignia. I have always been curious as to how the stamped metal ciphers are affixed.

Gents,

One can only hope these chutes passed JMPI. Image dates to 1942.

Gents,

Don't tell this unidentified Colonel he needs to convert his ORBs. Note, too, his award of the U.S. Army Legion of Merit in the degree of Legionnaire.

Jeffrey Meffert Wrote:Timoshenko and Budenny are easy. I'm thinking Shaposhnikov for the comissar. Who do you think with his back turned and the darker cap?

Guy with his back turned is Voroshilov and comissar is Lev Mekhlis.
