Superb image of Double HSL N. N. Bogolyubov. He was a fabled Soviet mathematician and theoretical physicist.
Numbering among his Soviet decorations were six Orders of Lenin; an Order of the October Revolution; two Orders of the Labor Red Banner; two Badges of Honor; one Lenin and two Stalin Prizes and a USSR State Prize.
From time to time I have seen the collar insignia on the market and I've wondered why a full uniform jacket is never seen (at least in my experience). It looks as though the "uniform" is simply a dark blue or black suit. I suppose that it becomes easy to convert the "uniform" to civilian use
Not to be outdone, Double HSL S. A. Afanasyev brings his "metal" to the table. Seven Orders of Lenin; an Order of the October Revolution; two Orders of the Labor Red Banner; an Order of the Red Star; Russian Order "For Service Before the Nation 3rd Class"; Lenin Prize, Stalin Prize and USSR State Prize number among his awards.
He was the USSR Minister for General Mechanical Engineering.
