Greg Collins Wrote:Noticed in a couple of the photos in Pickard's book that this medal was available with (or at least modified to have) a five sided ribbon hangar to make it fit in more readily with other military awards. I only saw this on German uniforms, though.
Here are some examples of adapted Medals:
Ehrentitel Aktivist der sozialistischen Arbeit (Activist of Socialist Labour) (1969)
Ehrentitel Aktivist der Siebenjahrplanes (Activist of Seven Year Plan) (1960-69)
Ehrentitel Aktivist der Fünfjahrplanes (Activist of Five Year Plan) (1953-69)
And the normal pentagonal suspension for the Medaille für Treue Dienste, Nationalen Volksarmee (1956) Five years service.
NVA personal were allowed to adapt their Civilian awards to be worn on the NVA ribbon bar albeit at there own cost. They were not supplied for them.
Everybody's equal, But some more than others!
