During the period of war with fascist Germany, serving as the army’s chief of staff, he devotes all his skills and power to the organization of the destruction of the enemy. He capably assigns combat missions to the units, operationally guaranteeing their fulfilment.

Units of the army, during the entire period of the defense of Odessa since 11 August 1941, persistently confined the superior enemy forces, inflicting enormous losses upon him.

He capably developed and together with the fleet put into effect an operation to destroy the 13th and 15th Romanian Infantry Divisions in the eastern sector of the Odessa defense line, after which these divisions suffered enormous losses in personnel and weapons, while our units occupied the more advantageous boundary of the defense line.

For capably leading the combat actions of the army’s units, he deserves to be awarded the Order of the Red Banner.
