why would we change any thing about it.

the cord could have always been there and so may the cocade.

due to over production of officer caps and maybe they run out of soldier versions, who knows.

just changing the badge to officer would make it a proper warrant officer cap.

ps, if you remove the badge and cord you might be able to spot marks of what was there before if there was. this is a side effect of velvet.
