Hi guys,
I recently came upon a small grouping from a gentleman who worked a senior job for the supply railroad in the war. From what I gather, the "distribution railroad stations" were mostly temporary railroads laid down for the purpose of supplying and moving troops. Is this accurate?
The man's title in early 1943 was
"Military commandant of distribution railroad station #35, Black Sea Group of the North-Caucusus Front."
In Russian, it is
"Военный Комендант распорядительной ж.д. станции No 35 Черноморской Группы войск Северо-Кавказского Фронта".
He finished the war a Major, continued working in the railroad industry, and earned a couple more civilian awards.
Thanks for your help!
George
