Thank you both. Yeah, it basically sounds the same to me. I guess the main question is whether the "distribution railroads" were laid temporarily (the "narrow track gauge" roads) vs the standard railroad tracks with the wider gauge.

Paul, you'll enjoy seeing this--here's the document to the veteran's znachok from the said veteran. :thumbsup (I have the actual pin, but the photo isn't on this computer) I need to photograph and post the whole set, it's pretty complete--a screwpost RS, a GPW-II, a flatback Badge of Honor, a (later) RBL, and of course the multitude of anniversary awards and znachki.
