medals73 Wrote:To summarise what I know (and apologies for possible duplication). I am not including the Dotood Yam Badge (Battushig D02). I think maybe it should be a new type 1?
Type 1 -- Reverse with 3 maker’s marks, serial number “No” -- observed range Low = 5 / High =975
Battushig listed this as two varieties (D03a and D03b) based on the gilt/silver distinction. He now admits this was in error and that the "gilt" / "silver" distinction is merely a function of the state of the survival of a rather thin and fragile gilt coating.
Here's a cased and documented set, #393. A 1973 award.
I previously showed earlier (1954) and later (1982) documents for this badge.
Medals73 - is that case a "non-standard" Mongolian one? I.e. smaller in size than the cases occasionaly found with combat/labor medals?
