Wow! Ralph, you were right, I had not seen this post. That sort of cross-the-borders set is exactly the type of story I would love to sort out. In fact, it's the kind of set that got me started on the web page I've forgotten to update because it was getting mired down in the state security "shell game" of WWII. This makes me want to just give a brief introduction and farewell to SMERSH so I can get on to the Cold War and all its bizarre alliances and closed-door dealings. As Paul pointed out above, this guy was well-traveled and I would guess his biography (what could be found of it) would read better than most Ian Fleming novels (and that's a generalization because I've never read Fleming, but you get the idea).:thumbsup
