Here is the location of Dmitrovsk-Orlovskij. It was liberated on 12th August 1943. Not too far north from the ongoing offensive at Kursk.
His Red Star may well be combat damaged as he continued to be in the firing line and was lightly and severely wounded before being discharged.
The serial 565783 seems rather high for an August 1943 award. I was expecting it to be awarded around April 1944 - Is this a wartime catch up? Did the Breakthrough Regiment have to wait for a resupply of Red Stars?
