Vasiliy Fedorovich Shalaev's (born 1916?) early Bravery Medal was located in the archive; my thanks to RedMaestro2 for pointing this out for me. Could it be the same man?
According to the archive documents, he was, "awarded a Bravery Medal in 1943 as a Sergeant of State Security in the Black Sea group of forces, (and) ended the war as a Sr. Lieutenant." His entry in the archive also lists an Order of the Red Star for which there is no link to any documents. [/SIZE]
