You can use a pin to gently scratch the surface. If there is no trace left, it is glass enamel (hot enamel), if the pin scratches the "enamel", then it is epoxy (cold enamel). Marc |

Black light will also reveal this too, cold enamel "glows" under black light.

Exactly right Eric...here's how the same Red Star looked without the black light btw. My suspicions were confirmed under black light. The black light flashlight trick is one I use a lot. Hot enamel won't "glow;" epoxy, paint, or cold enamel will. :thumbsup
