ok, a few more....
This is another that is very similar to two others i posted; they seem to have made three of them; all silver insignia, all gold insignia, and a mix. This is the all gold version, and I can see why it was not chosen. From a distance the rank insignia just blends into the boards too much. DD |

design
This was pretty close to the final design; the star is not as well developed and the insignia is reversed.

Tsarist!
This one, other than the imbedded hammer and sickle, really feels Tsarist to me; the crossed cannons were later used for Marshal of Artillery.

final set for now
These are just ugly, no way to hide it! They look like they crossed Marshal of the USSR and Lt.Colonel into a new rank; was this for a deputy Marshal of the USSR? Probably never know.
Hope someday to post more : ) DD |

Doug,
Thanks for sharing some of your collection. What a smokin' collection it is!! Thanks much for sharing all of them. Without this forum I can almost say for certain that I would have never have seen almost all of those you posted. It is posts like this that make me enjoy my hobby even more; I just cant think of anyplace but here to see those boards. Thanks to you for sharing them with us and thanks for running a great section of of this great forum. Without you, Art and the rest of the great moderators this certainly would not be the premier Soviet Collection Forum on the web. Thanks to you all. Clete

boards
Thanks guys! Being moderator is easy when this forum is filled with collectors who post good shots, ask interesting questions and really help each other out. I really have nothing to do! I am proud of the way it has developed; too many of the other forums get preachy and the 'experts' want to show off what they think they know rather than help.
As for the boards, I am hoping to get more, but think what I posted is it for awhile : ( DD |

boards
I had a really good source in Russia who had them; He has some uniforms too that were great that I sold to clients, but decided to keep almost all the boards ( I did sell 4 sets of prototype Generalissimus boards to a high end collector in Europe). DD
