Here's a pic of the crest of city of Kiev, now the capital of the independent Ukraine.

Kiev was the cite of the fierce battle in the foirst months of the Great Patriotic War, and later - one of the milestones in the liberation of the Ukraine.

For the heroic deeds the city was awarded the title Hero of the SU. Hero of the SU medal was part of the Kiev's crest.
