Re: Cap infantry general
the cap in the painted picure i guess was ment as a contra expertice.
to show the gray cap was no longer needed because a parade cap with service bullion was used. i think this is quite right for that time, as this painting is a M94/5 uniform. in between the m88 and m94 uniform reg's i say the gray cap was used. and i only talk about this period not earlier as 1989 and later than 1994. and the red banded or blue banded gray topped had to match the walking out tunic with service (small bullion). an explaination as for left over spare's i normaly would agree with. but in this case there is a difference between the caps. they all have the common later construction of visor. and are all undated. it would be wierd to have a hole stock of 70's produced caps left over with out production dates. this was not common at all at that time !! buttons and such could be taken from left over stocks when ever. |

Re: Cap infantry general
Ser-g,
I think this is a good thread, but I also think most who are interested have given their say / opinion...sometimes a thread just runs its course, unless there is new info presented. Is there a specific point / question you still want covered? DougD |

Re: Cap infantry general
I would like to get to a point of a acception on a common opinion on this mather.
i think some people have there opinion made really clear, but i would like to see more of a sharpening in there reasoning. for example. as some people think this kinda cap (gray top small service bullion) is a over produced item. WHY ? They made there first point clear, but a discussion or forum is not ment for only opinions and and than no fallow up or backing it up. |
