Re: How fake are these?

Here is one of my MOPR booklets. This one has a stiff cover. Part of a group to a nurse.

Very nice Simon.:thumbsup Even the "dues paid" stamps are loaded with symbolism. Granted so was most of the Soviet era "artwork," which is probably why I like it. One doesn't have to try very hard to see secondary meanings or "subtext" as they called it in grad school.;)

Yeah, what was the art style called, 'social realism'? I like it.

And yep, it was the "Z" person, who used to be a member here until his scams were uncovered.

Re: How fake are these?

Eric, not to sound snooty, but in the US it was "Social Realism." In the USSR, it was "Socialist Realism.":) They both developed in the early 1930s and the former focused on landscapes depicting situational "realities" of everyday life whereas the latter glorified the socialist state and the "working class hero." I think it's not too broad a generalization to say that the entire Soviet system was held together in part through the judicious (mostly) use of this art form in everything from orders and medals to murals and sculptures in the Moscow Metro stations. Very impressive since much of it is physically larger than life.

As to the other matter, well it irritates me to no end that he keeps popping up under different names with the same old stuff. Apparently, he has access to a seemingly endless supply of blank Soviet documents and a number of sometimes appropriate stamps/seals.:thumbsdown

Re: How fake are these?

Ah, "socialist realism". I stand corrected. Thanks.

Thankfully the "Z" person still uses the most common color in socialist realism art to frame the images he sells on the e-channel. Stands out like a, well, red flag.

Well that's a bloody shame.:thumbsdown At one point he simply admitted to making documents and even sent me a bag full of blanks with instructions on how to fill them out and send them back to have photos put in the ones that needed them and then he would stamp them and return them to me. Needless to say, that was the last time we communicated and I never sent any of the docs back.
