To me that always was a early two piece officers badge. But honestly maybe we should start a threat about it. I love to see and know more about them.

Re: MVD 55-69 cap
OK, I get the "2-piece" part now: the badge itself and the "mustaches" ;)

Re: MVD 55-69 cap
Ive done a little research (looking to pictures of caps from that time).
By looking at those i have found that the 2 piece badge you all are talking about (except the mustache thingy) for generals are all gold with a red star. This was in use from 1955- at least 1992 . What i meant is a 2 piece officers one. it is made nearly the same as the generals one, but with the white oval behind the red star. I will post a picture asap.

It would probably be easier then if you were to explain clearly what you mean by "2-piece". Marc |

Re: MVD 55-69 cap
"Mustache" is transliteral (from Russian) term for "prongs". In this case the word is relative to the attaching prongs for the star centerpiece and the attaching prongs that affix the cockarde to the cap...

Re: MVD 55-69 cap
Here the promised pictures go.
I have put 3 differed types alongside. From left to right. 1. 2 piece 2. one piece heavy brass and high quality finish 3. 80's type I did like to know all about the first too anyway. Number 1. is the one i always ment as 2 piece officers badge. Picture 3 clearly shows the 2 piece construction of badge 1. .

Re: MVD 55-69 cap
i find it funny to see the first shown badge (2 piece) has no rope around the white. the other 2 do have that.

Re: MVD 55-69 cap
Ser-g,
The first cap badge on the left is unusual and non-standard, probably produced in East Germany (I have one of those somewhere). If I were you, I would definitely NOT use this badge. If you believe that your cap dates from before 1964, then the center badge is the one to use. If you date it later, then the aluminum one should be the one. Marc |

Re: MVD 55-69 cap
Again, it is your property - you may do with it what you wish...
I am aware that you did not ask my opinion regarding this, but I am a forward man, and/or perhaps a bit overzealous (as I have been branded in the past) - I would leave this piece as it is - there is NOTHING incorrect about it. IMO of course...

Re: MVD 55-69 cap
Thank you all,
I never knew it was a special produced badge, i always took it as a very early model. One that was made to a very fine high standard. I will leave the cap as is. no need to temper with it.
