Award Recipient Free Transportation Booklet.
Gentlemen,
This is a late type transportation coupons booklet, issued to Heroes of the Soviet Union and Socialist Labor, as well as to cavaliers of three Orders of Glory, Labor Glory, and Service to Motherland in the Armed Forces. You don't see them very often. This booklet belonged to Sorochan, Nikolay Antonovich, who was a Hero of the Socialist Labor and Director of Nikolaev Shipyard. |

Alexei,
Cool booklet, but how do you know that Comrade Sorochan was Director of Nikolaev Shipyard? Best, William |

It was easy, because I have his complete group, including a Hero of Labor Star, two Orders of Lenin and a bunch of documents :) Besides I found his name mentioned on the Russian Internet. The booklet near the Hero Star is his Communist Party doc. Alexei Last edited by CtahhR; 11-15-2016 at 11:20 AM. |

Alexei,
When do these medals date? (years issued? Judging by booklet for HSL they look like the last 5-10 years... Rusty. |

Alexei,
It's sort of odd that you were able to find his name on the Russian internet. I was offered this group a while ago and despite all me searches I found absolutely nothing about this person on the web. The seller claimed that Sorochan was a director of a large shipbuilding factory, which biult carrier Kiev amongst others. But he provided no proof of his statement. Best, William |

I have been to the shipyard at Nikolaev and it is huge.
Near the shipyard is a nautical museum that has among the many ships that were built there, photos of the famous with many displays of awards. A tremendous display of Soviet navel history. Alanirvine |

The group is again for sale by one of the largest Russian dealers and it's listed on his web site for $3,600. I was offered this group for $2500, but that was a year ago. The dealer never mentiones that this guy was the Director, he was just "shipyard executive" according to the seller. William |
