"Member Of Freedom".
Here is the "Member Of Freedom" (Članu Svobode) of the Liberation Front Of The Slovene Nation (Osvobodilna Fronta Slovenskega Naroda).
The Liberation Front was founded on 26th April 1941 as a Partisan Government of Slovene Lands that had been occupied by German forces and took instruction directly from the Comintern in Moscow rather than being controlled by Tito. The Liberation Front's armed wing was the Slovene Partisans which were separate from Tito's Yugoslavian Partisans until early 1944 and later became a detachment of the Yugoslav People's Army.
It is unclear as to just what purpose this Badge had, a "Deputy" Badge or a Partisan award but it is serial numbered 119 and the Plenum Of Delegates Of The Slovene Nation consisted of 120 members. The official Slovene Language Partisan Award book of the Federal Republic Of Yugoslavia omits all reference to non-Titoist Slovene activity. It most likely dates from late 1942 or early 1943. It is Silver with a maker marked pin.
With Slovene lands being occupied by Germany, Italy, Hungary and Croatia and being Communist without being Titoist this Badge is a rather lucky survivor as any of those 5 factions would certainly not approve of it if a wearer was caught with it on their person.
